On July 1, BIP Wallet was updated to version 2.0 after two weeks of public beta testing. In this article, we’ll delve into its capabilities and hear what the community has to say.

The application is available on Android and iOS:

AppStore
Google Play

After the installation and launch, you’ll get to the log-in screen. If you already have a Minter network address, you can enter your seed phrase (Sign In). Otherwise, you’ll need to create a wallet first.

Make sure to keep the newly generated seed phrase (a set of 12 words) in a safe place that no one can access but you. It’s the only key to your wallet, impossible to restore or change.

In case you have any Minter-related questions, you can press the Help button located on the home screen, which will take you to the Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.) page.

Once authorized, you’ll see three primary sections:

  1. Wallets. Manage your wallets, coins, and delegations
  2. Send. Send transactions and access your address book
  3. Settings. Adjust as needed

Wallets

This is the most vital section of your wallet where you can view:

  • Chosen address (you may add up to five of them)
  • Total balance
  • Delegated
  • Coins you hold
  • Transaction history
• Sharing options

Multi-addresses

Have several addresses and want to switch between them within a single wallet? Not a problem: just add up to five addresses in the corresponding menu and name them (18 symbols max.):

Only two taps, and voila — you’re managing yet another address of yours!

Total balance

Total balance takes either of three states:

  1. Available balance. Amount of BIP you haven’t delegated or sold
  2. Total balance. Amount of BIP + custom coins (value expressed in BIP) available
  3. Total balance $. Total balance in U.S. dollars (according to the rate observed at CoinGecko)

To navigate around different types of balance, just tap whichever is active now.

Delegated

You can view the amount of delegated funds by pressing the corresponding button under total balance. This tab displays all coins you’ve “tied” to validators.

Delegated coins are those you’ve temporarily entrusted to a particular validator. They are locked on your address and will always remain yours.

Under each validator, you can see the number of coins you’ve delegated to it along with the BIP equivalent (in gray). To delegate more, you can:

  • Copy the validator’s public key and paste it into the corresponding field at the second step (press the “+” button in the top right corner). There you can pick a validator from the list
  • Press the “+” button next to the validator that you have already delegated funds to (if you want to delegate the new coins to it as well)

Select a coin from the list of available, enter the amount, and click Continue. In 120 blocks (≈10 minutes), your stake will be updated, and you will start receiving rewards.

You can also make an unbond transaction — i.e., “untie” your coins from the validator — by swiping the desired coin to the left and pressing Unbond:

Coins you hold

Your balance may store any coin (or all of them, for that matter) powered by the Minter network. They are all there on the general list with their BIP worth highlighted in gray:

Minter’s features (absolute liquidity of custom coins) allow you to swap one coin for another. You need just a couple of taps after hitting the Exchange button.

For a better user experience, this menu is divided into two parts:

  1. Sell. Indicate the number of coins you’re willing to sell and see how many new coins you‘d get after conversion
  2. Buy. Indicate the number of coins you’re willing to buy and see how many coins you should sell

Once the conversion is completed, the new coins will immediately show up in your balance.

Transaction history

The Transactions tab in the Wallets section will take you to the transaction history of your address.

Here you can easily find all incoming and outgoing transactions, arranged by date for convenience. To see the details, tap any of them:

You can also share your transaction from here.

Address sharing

You can send your address to a friend or copy it by clicking on the Share icon at the top of the screen:

Send

  • Coin. Name of the coin to send
  • Amount. Number of units to send (USE MAX will send all available coins)
  • To. Recipient (Mx address or Name from the address book)
  • Message. Message attached to the transaction the recipient will see
  • Transaction Fee. Commission charged by the network (learn more about fees here)

With maximum user-friendliness in mind, we’ve enabled you to use the QR code scanner (situated at the top of the screen) so that you don’t waste your time typing the receiver’s address manually or copy-pasting it:

One of the refined BIP Wallet’s breakthrough features is the address book, which you can access via a special button in the To field:

Here you can add the addresses you most often transact with and give them names:

Now when sending coins, you can select among the addresses you’ve saved before. To remove an address from the book, swipe left — just as in Unbond.

Settings

  • PIN unlock
  • Fingerprint unlock (available after enabling the previous option)
  • PIN change
  • Turning in-app sounds on/off
  • Enabling/disabling notifications

There are also buttons in case you need to quickly jump to the Telegram channel or reach out to the support chat.

The log-out button is at the top of the screen. If you sign out, all of your settings (including the address book) will be lost, so watch out!

Developer Testimonials

When you open the official Minter wallet’s 2.0 version for the first time, it immediately becomes clear that the team has been closely following the feedback from the audience to bring an improved user experience.

I was pleased with the new design. Strict coloring, clear lines, well-thought interface details — you kinda get a hint that the app you’re running is a serious one. It’s hard to miss new functionality, such as delegation by choosing from the list of validators and the address book, either.

The new wallet now looks a lot like a financial app. And, in my opinion, that’s the right message!

Evgeniy, StakeHolder Team

BIP Wallet is the most easy to use and understand crypto wallet I’ve ever tried. It has everything you need, no extra stuff. People who are new to cryptocurrencies but know how to use mobile banking will be all set in no time, just a couple of taps. The best wallet, which has become even better with version 2.0.

Konstantin, BTC.Secure

Mostly I’d like to note an intuitive and eye-catching design. Beginners can run into a trouble or two, though, so here are some tips for them:

- Swipe left to unbond

- Press “Share” to find out your address

- Copy the address by clicking on it in your transactions

So my idea is to offer a guide at the first launch, the one that other, more advanced users can skip. To make it easier for the support team, among other things.

It’s nice to see the arrival of some features that have been requested many times and by many users. I personally hope nicknames get implemented as soon as possible.

Thanks for 2.0, Team.

Askhat Beltsev, Validator.Center

As a user of the new BIP Wallet 2.0, I see some important changes: everything unnecessary has been removed, interface simplified, helpful features added: multi-wallets (up to five addresses), address book, unbonding (with a simple swipe). I enjoyed the minimalistic initial screen with all the significant information such as quick exchange, list of transactions, and portfolio of coins with the BIP worth. It’s all much easier now.

Alexey Kanev, ONLY1

Multi-wallets have been long-awaited! Glad this feature has been rolled out. The upgrade went smoothly, it didn’t kick me out of my wallet, and I didn’t have to re-enter the seed phrase. For me, the interface has become more intuitive and easier in general. Kudos!

Alex Buck, CUBE game

Terrific re-design of the interface. Interactive animation is eye-pleasing and super exciting. It has become much more convenient to carry out everyday operations — in just one minute, a new user can figure it all out and start actively using the app. And that’s the ultimate goal of any application, so congrats dev team on the great job! Shout-out to the entire Minter community for the contribution it made helping with all the tests and bug hunting, it worked like a charm and now we have a virtually issue-free release.
